After a period of health struggles, Jeff Garcia, the voice actor best known for portraying Sheen Estevez on the 2000s Nickelodeon animated series The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, died on Wednesday. He was 50.

Garcia was taken off life support Tuesday after experiencing a collapsed lung

According to Variety, Garcia suffered a brain aneurysm earlier this year and was hospitalized in late November with pneumonia. Although he was later discharged, his health continued to decline, and Garcia suffered a stroke a few weeks ago. He was taken off life support Tuesday at a Southern California hospital after experiencing a collapsed lung.

His son Jojo Garcia confirmed his passing in an Instagram post, E! Online reported.

“My father was a unique soul,”  he wrote on Dec. 10. “He was unapologetically himself and I will always admire the love, compassion, and drive that he had.”

Jojo added that he shared a close relationship with his father, who he called his “best friend.”

“I would call him every day. I would tell him about the plans I had in comedy and my life. He believed in me, in a way that nobody else did,” he wrote.

Jojo, who followed in his father’s footsteps as a comedian, also highlighted Garcia’s comedic genius.

“From voice acting to stand up comedy, he shined with his quick wit, brash humor, and charm,” he wrote. “He has made such an impact on people’s lives internationally, whether you grew up watching Jimmy Neutron, or shared a laugh with him at one of his shows. He was my hero… I idolized him.”

Garcia appeared in several animated projects and often performed as a stand-up comedian


After appearing in the 2001 film Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and its accompanying video game, Garcia lent his voice to 59 episodes of The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and several TV movie spinoffs of the animated series, including leading Planet Sheen, a sci-fi comedy centered on Estevez, Variety reported. The spinoff aired 26 episodes from 2010 to 2013.

Garcia’s vocal talents were also featured in the Barnyard series, in which he portrayed the mouth of Pip the Mouse, and several Happy Feet movies, in which he played the penguin Rinaldo. He also appeared in 2010’s Marmaduke, Rio and its sequel, Rio 2.

In addition to voice acting, the 50-year-old was a comedian who performed at the Laugh Factory often. He also appeared in non-animated projects Mr. Box Office and the 2024 film Holy Cash.
